Home from home on a business trip

Every week, Carole Booth, a business analyst at Shell, travels to London from Manchester on Tuesday morning and returns home on Thursday evening. Instead of staying in a hotel room, she stays in a serviced apartment.

“I’ve been doing it for two years,” she explains. “There are a couple of reasons I prefer it. One is the size of the rooms. I have to come down to London every week and a small hotel room can become a bit like a cell. Another bonus is not having to eat out every day. I don’t eat out at home every night.”

If nothing else, she points out, preparing her own meals prevents her putting on weight.
