United Van Lines says it moved more people into D.C. than out of the city from January to June, ranking D.C. its most popular migration destination.

The moving company says 63.6 percent of its D.C. moves were inbound and 36.4 percent were outbound.

At the other end of the scale was Michigan, where United Van Lines says 70 percent of its moves were people moving out of the state. Michigan has lost nearly 338,000 jobs so far this year, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

In addition to The District, 28 states saw more moves in than moves out. Twenty states saw more outbound moves. Alaska and Hawaii were not included in the list.

Virginia had slightly more moves in than out, at 51.1 percent to 48.9 percent. Maryland saw more outbound moves, at 49.7 percent to 51.3 percent.

United Van Lines bases its figures on data from about 61,000 interstate household moves this year.
