The agreement allows CAS to offer Zipcars to its short-term furnished apartment customers at reduced rates. The program officially starts July 1, 2010.

Arlington, VA (PRWEB) June 28, 2010 -- Corporate Apartment Specialists, Inc. (CAS), a major corporate housing provider in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area, has entered into a collaborative agreement with Zipcar, a car-sharing company operating a fleet of vehicles parked throughout the Washington, DC Metropolitan area. The agreement allows CAS to offer Zipcars to its short-term furnished apartment customers at reduced rates.

Car-sharing, or self-service cars rentable by the hour, is a growing urban concept aimed at reducing the number of automobiles on urban streets, while encouraging and augmenting the use of public transportation.

Under the program, CAS residents are eligible for ½ price Zipcar membership, waiving of the application fee, and discounted weekday rates. In addition, CAS promises to reimburse its customers for their first 2 hours of Zipcar use and for the other half of the membership fee, making it a no-brainer for many of its corporate housing customers. Additional hours would be the responsibility of CAS residents. Charges (if any) will appear on customers’ monthly invoices.

Most of Corporate Apartment Specialists' 30 locations are within two blocks of a Zipcar. Further, the majority of CAS customers residing in city locations are without a vehicle. These two factors make car-sharing an attractive transportation option for CAS residents. Residents often use public transportation such as Metro for most of their everyday needs. However, Zipcar will be a great solution for trips to destinations off the beaten path. For example, a trip to an out of the way restaurant like L'Auberge Chez Francois would be quite cumbersome via metro, if not downright impossible. However, with Zipcar, it becomes easy.
