ST. LOUIS (February 2009) – One industry myth is that extended stay hotels are the cheapest option for traveling executives. However, more relocation departments are discovering that corporate housing apartments are a more affordable and more comfortable option when planning a trip of 30 days or more.

“Extended stay hotels are a great option for executives traveling for a week or so,” said Brad Laspe, Vice President & General Manager for VIP Corporate Housing. “But when adding up the price of restaurant meals, high speed Internet access, laundry services and more, the actual costs quickly escalate. Corporate housing leases provide all the amenities of home at a much more reasonable price.”

Hotel and extended stay hotel prices can quickly soar, costing companies thousands more per month. For example, the average hotel costs about $200 a night. So room costs alone can top $6,000 per month. Totaling in charges for meals at a restaurant, laundry services, high speed Internet charges, pet boarding costs and hotel taxes, an average month at a hotel can cost up to $8,000.

Corporate housing options are all inclusive and cut out the up charges of hotel living. VIP Corporate Housing’s average monthly rate is $2,100 ($70 a day.) Adding in groceries, since the fully equipped kitchens make cooking a breeze, and accounting for all other included services, (cable, internet, laundry, etc,) VIP Corporate Housing saves companies an average of $6,000 a month.

“With the current economic situation, companies are trying to cut costs wherever they can,” said Laspe. “However, cuts don’t always have to come at the price of comfort to your traveling employee. Corporate Housing options such as VIP Corporate Housing save your company a significant amount of money, but in the long run, they also give your employees a more comfortable place to call home. It’s a win-win situation.”
